Tim Russert was a giant among journalists and a giant among people. I wept as I watched Meet the Press last Sunday as they showed Russert's now-empty chair and everyone from Tom Brokaw to Bob Dole choked up when talking about Russert.

I saw the movie "Expelled" last night. Ben Stein and the others making the movie did a masterful job of shedding light on the fact that when it comes to science education in the USA, all speech is not created (or treated) equal.

The theory of evolution is now taught as fact across the land in spite of glaring holes in the theory that very smart, well educated scientists have exposed. However, if a scientist or professor dares to suggest that intelligent design should at least be part of the discussion in classrooms, the movie shows that move to be deadly to one's career.

The following headlines (below) were on the home page when you went to www.aol.com this morning. As you can see, it's a great time for a tax increase. Instead of reallocating funds from the HUGE budget they already have away from social programs which are outside the mandate of state government to roads and bridges which are one of their main mandates, they did what they do best: raise taxes and take more of our money.

With friends like Farrakhan, Obama doesn't need any enemies! According to this story (click on link below), Farrakhan sees Obama as the "hope of the entire world". Coming from the leader of the Nation of Islam, that endorsement begs the question as to whether Obama is really a Muslim in Christian clothing. If he is Muslim, he should come out and say it. If not, say that also. The voters deserve to know.

President Bush did something right, but you won't read much about it in the papers as evidenced by the following article.

President Bush has done more for African countries during his two terms in office than any president before him. He has pressed Congress to give money for vaccinations, fighting AIDS, relief for Darfur, and other things. He has been welcomed as a hero in country after country during his recent tour of Africa.
