What do you think about Cindy Sheehan's "resignation"?

Cindy Sheehan has "resigned" as an Iraq war protest leader. One part of her her angry letter said this: “Casey died for a country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives,” she wrote. “It is so painful to me to know that I bought into this system for so many years and Casey paid the price for that allegiance. I failed my boy and that hurts the most.”

I think she feels like many Americans - like an ant fighting a gorilla.

Most of the polls I've ever seen show strong disapproval of the Iraq war and how the president has handled it. However, we've become a self-absorbed society, which is exactly what Sheehan is referring to when she says more people care about American Idol than what really matters.

But that's the nature of beaucracy. That's how our politicians prefer it. The one thing democrats and republicans are united on is the divide and conquer method. Make it so hard to create change that most people crawl into their ant holes and worry about themselves and leave it up to somebody else to solve (or screw up).

It takes an army of ants to fight a gorilla. So I undestand exactly what Sheehan is saying and I agree with her.
