School names for new elementary?

Suggestions for school names for the new Prior Lake-Savage Area School District elementary school on 154th Street will come to the School Board on Monday (March 12). What do you think the name should be? The name Marion W. Savage Elementary School is already taken; but Dan Patch Elementary School is not. Or, what about naming the school for some of the original landowners or farms in the area? An old Glendale Township map shows Spring Brook Stock Farm and Oak Grove Stock Farm were in the area. Land in the area was owned by families with the last names of: Murphy, Hanrehan, Leonard, Madden, Regan, Boetyer, McKenny, and McColl. What are your thoughts?

Back to page top[What's in a name? A rose by any other name is still rose], and a school by it's name, will always be a sore spot with the SAVAGE water tower looming over it.
I read the results of the new [Naming Contest]. And I wonder if the suggestion board was driven or directed by the " guidelines " to disallow names like Savage Elementary in Prior Lake . Or South Savage Grade School. Did the fact that Savage is not just a name of a person. it is a town alos, cause it to be tossed out, again? If the rules/guidelines did not apply to the High school, why should they apply to this new school. I wonder wonder wonder!
Now I'm sure I will get tons of mail from the MOVE-ON groups. But I'm far more use to that, than the constant reminder in my back yard of the unreal power, of the power hungry. Pithy enough??
