Now that Thanksgiving has passed, what lived up to your tastebud’s dreams and what, if anything, fell short? How was the company? Anyone too loud or fighting over who got to pull the wishbone?
For me and my multiple celebrations (friends, mom mom’s, boyfriend’s mom’s, and my dad’s) they were all great.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only times I eat turkey, (yes, I know it tastes the same all year long, but don’t try to convince me to eat it at any other time, I just won’t do it) and at each it was really good – so worth the 11 month wait.
The company at all of them was superb, too. My friends and I felt grown up and saw the typical man/woman roles being played out- women in the kitchen men in the living room (these ones were playing video games.) At my mom’s I sat next to my 5-year-old sister who was hilarious to watch when she was eating a cream-based pie; it was all over her little face. At my boyfriend’s mom’s place it was a fun dynamic to be among the three brothers; I forgot what’s it’s like to be around a bunch of boys. I missed the actual dinner at my dad’s since I was out of town, but I made him save me leftovers.
I didn’t enjoy the turkey coma and wine headache following the dinners (and one was even followed by a 2 hour drive, which was not easy.)

The feast is always great...
Back to page topThe feast is always great when you are surrounded by family and friends. We were in North Carolina visiting our daughter-in-law while our son was deployed to Afghanistan. Although we missed him very much, we felt closer to him by being in his beautiful new home, cooking up dinner with his lovely wife and playing with their two dogs, Gracie and Sylvie. It was a Norman Rockwell holiday for us!
