I think your association has some quota they already filled when it comes to sod. That's really strange, it obviously isn't from dogs.

Oddly enough, we called the property manager several times and brought the matter before the homeowners' association board that he facilitates and he had yet to come out and look at it (We've been taking pictures periodically since there was still some snow on the ground).

Then, on Monday the landscape guys were outlining the intended replacement areas with spray paint and I stepped outside to talk to them. They told me the property manager told them to replace the sod and charge us for it -- they apparently walked the property a few days prior.

That's funny, I told him, we've been waiting for him to return our calls but he never does. So we told them to do whatever they needed to do and we'd contact the property manager. The next day, he left a voicemail on my husband's phone before we got a chance to call and, what do you know, my husband got a recording when he tried to call back...

Sounds like it could have used more Miracle Grow (kidding). Did you send them the photo with your complaint. It seems pretty clear that it's more than a dog issue.

Dead sod or dog damage?

Dead sod or dog damage?

I learned that complaining about poor drainage in my yard just gets my dogs accused of causing the damage and the homeowners' association telling me that I have to pay to replace the sod -- the same sod that was replaced last year that I say never took (the landscaper claims it did).

But I'm guessing the spongelike consistency of the lawn, the moss growing atop some of the dead brown grass and the still-visible cuts from the pieces of sod are more a drainage problem than a dog problem. What do you think?

P.S. They put the sod in during August and the sprinkler system wasn't working correctly.

It's it amazing what you can learn in a month. I got over my fear of landscaping this June. I learned that Miracle Grow really is a miracle, and that if you put it on most plants, along with some water now and then, it keeps things thriving - even if you lack a green thumb.

To navigate a blog with more

To navigate a blog with more than one page, go to the end of the front page and click on the word "last" that appears under the last comment space on the page and you'll be redirected to the last page and can read the most recent posts from there. In regard to how posts fall where they do -- if a user is responding to a specific post by clicking the word "reply" in the box of a specific post, their comments will appear under that specific post, thereby will have the appearance of being out of order when compared to the rest of the posts. If a person responds in general in the box at the very end of all the other posts, it pops up at the end.
Last, but not least, it is real easy to take things out of context or think something is directed at you, when in fact it may not be that way at all. Please read the posts carefully! It is OK to express an opinion, but like I pointed out in an earlier post on this blog, #3 of the user agreement gives guidelines. In other words, check your hatred at the door or take it somewhere else. Like Robert said, the Pacer has a reputation for being fair, which is carried through onto this web site.

Did I hear you asking for a fry, Ling? Were you insinuating that the Ronald your dad was asking you about was the clown from the Golden Arches?

Despite having the attention span of a 2-year-old, you did very well with your presidents -- I'm not sure I could have answered them all (but I did know the answer to the Ronald you refused to acknowledge).

Maybe next your dad can get you to work on something really important -- like identifying the designer of any handbag you see (and knowing the difference between the real thing and a knock off). My daughter is really good at that!

Here's a practice round:
Q: "Dolce"
A: "Gabbana."

This presidential run ends because of lack of focus, and not even a candy bribe will help me get it back. I'm 2 1/2. Who needs focus now? (Turn up the volume too).

I like the way it keeps threads together, so if people actually use reply they can read an entire thought.

I also like the order, so someone new doesn't have to read backwards.

That said, How about a new thread so we can start on Page one again.

It was a liberal "puff

It was a liberal "puff piece" not because of the topic, but because you talked with the hippie and consumer and regurgitated their mistaken beliefs on what is causing high gas prices.
An article in the newspaper about gas prices at SuperAmerica, I would have expected a quick phone call to SuperAmerica or a quick glance at the petroleum marketing company to get a balance on the report.

I don't think that all the Media is biased, I have always respected the Pacer for being one of the more balanced papers around (it tends to get complaints from conservatives and liberals).

But that articles opening paragraph is not about the Hippie but about gas prices, so instead of being a profile on the crazy hippie, it is a article about gas prices using the Hippie as a source - a liberal puff piece.

I expect that from my editorial columns, not on the news page.

That said, the point was you did a news article on a whiner and then complain about a blog from a whiner.

The "liberal puff piece on the hippie" was an assignment given to me by my editor that appeared in the my paper and on the web. she told me to talk to the "hippie" and a few consmuers, which I did. It was not something I just decided to do on my own to arrouse/anger the neo-cons cuz of their false, pre-conceived notions of a liberal bias media.

Perhaps before you speak, you should get your facts straight about certain things. It's very easy to just to make stuff up.

The author of the Liberal Puff piece on the hippie and his whining, complaining about people whining is funny.

This is probably one of the longest threads on the board.

Thanks again Nancy for keeping this discussions moving forward and occasionally on track.

My only suggestion would be to start a new entry.

On the front page, when you click on the link it always goes to page one, so you have to scroll around to find the new messages.
