I agree with tgt paul's statement that what has been going on is a pretty poor example for young people in this district. I hope the adults can sort things out in a grown-up manner so they can have a legacy of setting a good example for the students in the district rather than come across as a bunch of cry-babies.

By the way, I get the animosity on both sides and I'm glad there is passion out there. I would just hate to see the same thing that happened in my old school district happen here.

Perry Township (south side of Indianapolis). Disagreement/removal from office of an award winning super by the board. Teachers, residents and alumni divided. Tons of $$$ spent fighting and really poor example of how to work out differences taught to students. Not a perfect comparison, but too many parallels for my comfort.

If you want to see where this can head, google Perry Township Lawsuit, read the stories and the vicious arguments on boards.

If you have proof that Chris is doing something inappropriate, then report him to the police.

If you don't like the fact that you lost the referendum and that Dr. W (who apparently isn't the best Superintendent in the world according to Wayzata) then get over yourself.

If we want to start a recall over a school board member who indicated one thing during the campaign but did something else, then I suggest the entire School board resign.

Robertneverbob!

Of course it is about children! Including the 500+ children Chris Lind has as "Friends" on his MY Space account as of the publishing of this entry.

We are all for supporting Kids. We are not for:
1) 44 year old man exploiting school age children on the internet when they don't truly understand the consequences.

2) Running a fiscally conservative School Board campaign. Then when asked at a School Board meeting on 12/10/07, Mr. Lind DECLINED being on the Finance Committee.

Move forward? What's that? You mean start living in the now and not always in the past?

Huh? What a concept.

This community must be taking its cues from Major League Baseball, who can't seem to move forward either when it comes to steroids.

Is there a chance we can just move forward? I Would hate to see a community divided over this issue. The vote happened, the superintendent made his decision and now is the time to move ahead.

First, it's always Robert never Bob.

Second, it is a better petition.
"719 Cares" vs. the new Petition "719 We Care More."
and everyone knows that more is better.

Finally, The first petition is for those who:
"support our Superintendent and our school district"

The new one is about supporting:
"our Children and what's best for their education"

I think supporting the Kids is better.

Bob!

A " better" petition was not started. The petition you mention is a defensive reaction to the 719 Cares Petition.

Here is the deal:

The majority of voters this time around were parents with kids attending school in the district. Please notice that this referendum was nearly voted down - a 330 vote margin of victory out of 12,000 cast is not exactly a sweeping majority.

Sorry Viki, but it's condescending for you to suggest that those who voted against the levy don't support kids. To the contrary, we expect 191 Administration and our Board of Education to be good stewards of the monies collected so our kids receive an adequate education within a budget that we can all afford.

I hope our school board members will especially take note: Now is NOT the time to introduce new programs in 191.

Many of us are watching very closely.

lind talked a lot about *total transparency* in the debate in september. he should practice what he preached.

if lind exposes himself to the scrutiny of the masses by running for public office, then full disclosure is expected. it's ridiculous to expect people to *respect privacy* in today's world. we run background checks and random drug testing for cashier jobs.

the light of day shone on lind should be no surprise. huddleston is right.

Chris Lind has been elected

Chris Lind has been elected to public office, so he should speak about this -- no matter the status of a lawsuit. What's more, now we have a superintendent who has stepped down because of the fact that he was elected. I'm sorry, but this situation has been thrust into the public spotlight and it's time for Chris to talk about it.

Denise was right...

Denise stated that ISD 719 spends less than "many" districts. That is absolutely true. Even with the increase that failed, we would have been below the state average. Shakopee is the only large neighboring district that does spend less than we do, and their student population is significantly different than ISD 719. Since you "did the research", I would be interested to see what data you use to back your statement that Shakopee educates their students better than ISD 719. Now THAT is insulting.
