A Savage firefighter was one of two people hurt Tuesday morning (March 16) at an apartment fire at The Observatory Apartments in Burnsville.
During the fire operation, a ceiling collapsed on the Savage firefighter and also one from Lakeville, which resulted in minor and nonlife threatening injuries. They were both treated at the scene by Allina.

Firefighters were called at 5:04 p.m. to a report of the smell of gas in the area of Quentin Avenue and Forrest Glen Court. The call was unfounded.

Firefighters were called to a crash with injuries and smoke coming from a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 13 and County Road 42 at about 8:05 p.m. The smoke was the result of an airbag that deployed. Allina was on the scene prior to firefighters’ arrival to provide medical assistance.

The fire chief rescued two pet ducks after a garage fire broke out at a home in the 14800 block of Virginia Avenue Monday night (Feb. 8).
Wednesday, Jan. 20
Firefighters were called to a one-vehicle crash for a 72-year-old man who needed to be extricated from a vehicle in the 7200 block of Taylor Drive at 8:24 p.m. Firefighters assisted medics in placing the man on a backboard. The man was transported to Fairview Ridges Hospital by Allina.

At 11:42 a.m. firefighters were called to a two-vehicle crash with injuries near County Road 27 and South Park Drive.
Thursday, Jan. 14
Savage firefighters extinguished a car fire Tuesday morning (Jan. 12) that started inside the garage of a townhome in the 4200 block of West 124th Street before it spread inside the home or to the other units of the building.

For the last 10 years the only rule surrounding the nomination and selection of the Savage Firefighter of the Year was that it was not to be awarded to a chief officer, known as “white hats.”
Five people were transported to two hospitals following a three-vehicle crash near Highway 13 and County Road 101 at about 3:02 p.m. on Friday.
