Southwest Newspapers, which publishes the Savage Pacer and six other weekly newspapers in the southwest metro area, has launched a new Web site to help local residents save money.

The Web site is www.saverfreak.com.

Savage-based Momento Images Photography announces Jen Hillenga, co-owner and photographer, has received The Wedding Portrait Artist of the Year award.

She also received a Fuji Award and top-scoring wedding print. Her prints will be displayed in the Savage art gallery.

The bright gold façade and teal-colored roof shingles will be coming down at El Loro this year, thanks in part to a city grant program that entices downtown businesses to improve their buildings.

To provide additional medical services, Cub Foods announces the grand opening of its newest in store clinic.  The NOW Express Care clinic will be located inside the Savage Cub Foods at 14075 Highway 13. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m.

Fabcon Inc. has been slapped with a hefty fine for releasing sediment-laden storm water into a wildlife wetland in the Minnesota River Valley along the city’s northern border.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has fined the pre-cast concrete panel manufacturer with a $32,623 civil penalty and a $320,000 Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEP) directive. The company agreed to donate $20,000 to the Scott County chapter of Pheasants Forever to fund a wetland restoration project in the county. The other $300,000 will be put towards installing water-conservation equipment at the company’s site on Highway 13.

Season 2 of  “The Amazing Pace” a Savage Chamber Scavenger Hunt! will be held Thursday, May 15 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Gather friends, neighbors, relatives and co-workers for a night of fun, food and laughter not to mention a chance to win $400 cash. The chamber is currently looking for 20 – 25 more local businesses that would like to be part of this excitement.
