Fire Prevention Week

Savage firefighters James Kolbe, left, and Ken Deja show kindergarteners at Harriet Bishop Elementary what firefighters look like in gear so they are not scared of them in the case of a fire. Firefighters made the rounds to elementary schools last week to teach children about fire safety as part of Fire Prevention Week.

Man sentenced in fatal hit and run of a Prior Lake man

Armando Velasquez, 20, of Faribault was sentenced to serve 57 months in prison by Dakota County Judge Timothy McManus in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 32-year-old Prior Lake man at the Event Center parking lot in Burnsville on April 5.
