Dan Patch Days coloring contest winners announced
June 21, 2007 - 11:17am — Nancy Huddleston
The Dan Patch Days coloring contest was a great success again this year with many entries from all age categories. The aspiring artists used crayons, markers, paints and a variety of other creative materials to color a picture of Dan Patch posing in front of his stables. This year’s entry form was extremely detailed and proved challenging to all the entrants. In each of five age categories, judges selected one winner, one runner-up, as well as honorable mentions based on neatness, creativity, and the realistic portrayal of Dan Patch. Each of the winners receives a two passes to the Wirth Companies Waterparks at Grand Rios or WaterPark of America as well as a $25 gift certificate to Michael’s, and the runner-ups each received a $20 Target gift card. The winning entries are on display through Sunday at the Savage Library. Contestants may pick up their pictures beginning June 20. Eagle Creek Gallery sponsors the annual contest, with donastions from Culver’s, Cornerstone Copy Center, the city of Savage Advisory Communications Commission, the Savage elementary schools, the Savage Library, and the Savage Pacer. Prizes are courtesy of Wirth Companies and Savage Super Target. Age 3 and under: Winner: Kendall Thom; Runner-Up: McKenna Thom; Honorable Mention: Jocelyn Thom.
