The Savage Police Department issued 46 citations between Aug. 7 and 13 and responded to 282 incidents between Aug. 8 and 15. Some of the incidents included the following:
CRASHES
A 53-year-old Chaska woman and a 23-year-old man from Savage were involved in a two-vehicle fender bender near County Road 101 and Zinran Avenue on Aug. 8. There were no injuries.
On Aug. 10 a 34-year-old woman from Savage was involved in a car versus deer crash near McColl Drive and Yosemite Avenue. There were no injuries. The car had about $1,000 in damage.
A 55-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, both of Savage, were involved in a property-damage crash near Egan Drive and Dakota Avenue on Aug. 12. The man was slowing at the intersection when he looked down at the floor and rear-ended the woman at a low rate of speed. There were no injuries. The man was cited for no proof of insurance.
THEFT
On Aug. 8 a 26-year-old St. Paul man was cited for theft after allegedly stealing a bicycle valued at $350 from a bike rack in front of Cub Foods, 14075 S. Hwy. 13. The man fled on the bike and threw it in the back of a truck that was in Prior Lake. Prior Lake police assisted in locating the truck. Savage police cited the man for theft.
Police are investigating a case of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult that was reported in the 5300 block of Egan Drive on Aug. 8. It was reported that a suspect cashed Social Security checks without authorization.
A U.S. flag and pole valued at $20 was reported stolen from a home in the 5000 block of West 139th Street on Aug. 8.
On Aug. 9 a can of mace valued at $15 was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle that was parked overnight in a driveway in the 13900 block of Aquila Avenue.
Three flags valued at $150 were reported stolen from outside the Dan Patch American Legion, 12375 S. Princeton Ave. on Aug. 10.
On Aug. 12 a resident of the 9000 block of West 136th Street reported theft of a cell phone valued at $100 and a face plate from a CD player valued at $100 from an unlocked vehicle.
A resident of Fairfax reported two credit cards stolen from a purse while at Smile Care, 13899 S. Hwy. 13, on Aug. 12. It was reported that one of the credit cards was used multiple times in multiple cities for unknown amounts. The case is under investigation.
A 33-year-old man from Savage was cited with theft for allegedly stealing beer out of a truck near West 126th Street and Natchez Avenue on Aug. 12.
On Aug. 13, a 45-year-old Milwaukee Wis., man was cited for theft and fleeing a police officer on foot after a shoplifting complaint was called in by Dan Patch Liquor, 4425 W. 123rd St. Officers located the man in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn, 4601 W. Hwy. 13. According to the police report, the officer approached the man and told him to stop, but the man refused and ran after throwing a bottle of liquor over the fence. The man stopped after being commanded to stop at gunpoint. According to police, he was observed on surveillance video stealing a bottle of Absolut Vodka and Jack Daniels valued at $46.78.
A Brooklyn Park resident reported the theft of two laptop computers valued at $1,800 each from a vehicle at Life Time Fitness, 6544 Loftus Lane on Aug. 14.
A tire valued at $115 was reported stolen from Tires Plus, 8500 Egan Drive on Aug. 14.
On Aug. 14 a gas drive off for $35.21 was reported at Holiday Gas Station, 7461 Egan Drive.
FRAUD
On Aug. 8 a resident of the 8800 block of Preserve Place reported a counterfeit check worth $5,700 that was passed on his account. The resident believes the original check may have been stolen from the mailbox.
BURGLARY
A resident of the 13800 block of Colorado Avenue reported a forced-entry burglary on Aug. 12. It was reported that $200 in change, $10 worth of alcohol and a GPS unit valued at $300 were stolen.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
On Aug. 9 a resident of the 4300 block of West 127th Street reported that someone keyed a car while it was parked in the driveway overnight.
NARCOTICS
On Aug. 12 a 24-year-old St. Paul man was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Pine County and charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and no driver’s license after being stopped for a traffic violation in the 4400 block of West 123rd Street.
LIQUOR LAW VIOLATION
A 16-year-old girl from Savage was cited for minor consumption of alcohol after officers heard a girl screaming and crying in the 4200 block of West 141st Street on Aug. 11.
