Area students were recently added to the dean’s list at Normandale Community College following the fall semester.

Alexa Chihos, of Savage, was named to the dean’s list for the winter 2009 semester at St. Catherine University in St. Paul.

The dean’s list recognizes students who achieve a semester grade-point average of 3.667 or higher.  

Air Force Airman Scott A. Schmitz graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Schmitz completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Two local students recently graduated from Bemidji State University following the fall 2009 semester.

Prior Lake native Dave McElwain earned a bachelor of applied science degree in technology management. Kari Sershon, of Burnsville, earned a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish.

For the fall 2009 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Burnsville native Kyle D. Bentz was named to the dean’s list.

Genevieve Becker, from Savage, was accepted for admission for the 2010-11 academic year to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

Becker received a Regent Scholarship.  

Area students recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison at the mid-year commencement ceremony.

Graduates from Savage include: Jennifer E. Ko earned a bachelor of science degree in political science; Brittany L. VonBank earned bachelor of science degrees in microbiology and Spanish.

Adam Shaw, from Savage, was named to the dean’s list following the fall 2009 trimester for the Weekend College program at Augsburg College.

To qualify, a student must be full-time student and earn a grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Taylor K. Orr, from Savage, spent the January interim term studying off-campus in Greece enrolled in the Classical Studies in Greece program.

Orr participated in the program as a student at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Paul Fox, Megan Hernandez and Breanna Pool, all of Savage, were recently named to the fall semester president's list at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount.
