Rainy day activity

Ryan Wattermann, 6, of Savage picks out a couple of books from the shelves of the Savage Library, 13090 Alabama Ave., Wednesday morning (March 10). Wattermann and his mother found solace from the rainy weather indoors by checking out a few Dr. Seuss books to read. (Staff photo by Shawn Hogendorf)

Remember When ...

This picture, taken about 1922, shows Arthur Williams (left) and his father, George Williams in front of the old George Allen house. The photograph was taken toward the northwest, from the southeast corner of 125th Street and Ottawa Avenue in downtown. This photo is courtesy of Wilfred Williams. The Savage Pacer is always looking for more old photos to add to its collection of “Remember When” photos, so anyone who might have old photos to share should contact Nancy Huddleston at (952) 345-6376 or editor@savagepacer.com.

Show us your signs of spring

Signs of spring are showing up as the snow pack melts. Here, a lilac bush is showing signs of coming to life in an area backyard. What signs of spring have you seen around Savage? Is the snow melt uncovering long lost toys or gardening items. Have backyard birds returned to your feeders or bird baths? Send in your pictures of signs of spring to editor@savagepacer.com and we'll publish them on our home page. (Staff photo by Nancy Huddleston)

Super snow fort!

Sam and Max Carlson and many of their friends built a two-story snow fort in their parents' front yard. It has numerous openings and a ladder to crawl to the top. The entire neighborhood has enjoyed it, as it is the first winter in a long time that this type of fort could be built. If you have a photo to share of something interesting in your neighborhood, send it to editor@savagepacer.com and we'll run it here.

Frosty morning walk

Peter Kokemueller sent us this picture from Sunset Pond Park that was taken last weekend when hoar frost created picture-perfect conditions along the trail around the pond. The park, which is in Burnsville, is on the city border, so many folks who live along the east side of Glendale Road take trails over to the park to enjoy its beauty. If you have a photo of something fun or beautiful in your neighborhood, send it to us and we'll help you show it off right here. Send pictures to editor@savagepacer.com.
