Shrey Pothini hosted a birthday party Nov. 7 at Savage City Hall and collected 44 new bath towels for Avenues for Homeless Youth. He has been collecting towels for the shelter for the last three years and enjoys bringing them to the shelter. His mother, Seema Pothini, is an active volunteer at Avenues and so Shrey has met some of the youth over the past couple years and that fuels his desire to contribute. After losing his first tooth this year and learning about the tooth fairy, he commented that he was going to donate whatever money he received from the tooth fairy to Avenues. He's always helping his mom find new ways to generate funds or donations. Avenues for Homeless Youth is located in Minneapolis and has 15 beds available for emergency and short-term housing.
