Theodore Pahl of Shakopee was pictured in 1979 with a crop of rhubarb he grows in his basement. He says he and a relative in South St. Paul are the only ones in Minnesota who do it. Paul’s father began raising rhubarb commercially in the 1890s. When his photo was taken, Pahl was raising rhubarb for his own use.
