When it comes to mid-year building permit numbers, there are plenty of low numbers that are a direct result of the downturn in the housing market.

But there’s one high number that is just as telling as the others – the 472 permits issued for residential additions and alterations.

If you have been wondering what happened regarding a decision about removing or keeping SS-9, a rare woodland up above Prior Lake High School, make some time on Monday, July 28 to find out.

That’s when the Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board will be meeting to hear a presentation from the city of Savage and discuss the fate of SS-9. The workshop begins at 5 p.m. in the large conference room of the District Services Center, 4540 Tower St., S.E., Prior Lake.

The Twin Cities Pond and Landscape Tour will come south of the river this weekend featuring two Spring Lake Township water gardens and one Credit River Township pond.

The free, self-guided tour is a place to get ideas for building and designing water features, as well as to learn tips about maintenance and view landscapes.

A jury trial for Harold “Bucky” Glenn Linville was scheduled to start next week, almost two years to the date of a drive-by shooting that rattled a quiet neighborhood just off County Road 42.

But in the past two years, the case has been pushed back for various reasons, including requests from both the prosecutor and defense attorney, and the addition of two felony charges against Linville for being in possession of a firearm.
