Police Report: April 26, 2008

The Savage Police Department issued 45 citations between April 10 and April 16 and responded to 288 incidents between April 11 and April 18. Some of the incidents included the following: CRASHES On April 16 a 45-year-old Burnsville woman hit and killed a deer while driving on Highway 13. The woman was not injured and her vehicle had to be towed. A 28-year-old woman from Savage reported she was involved in hit-and-run crash on April 16. The crash occurred when she pulled out of the Primrose School parking lot on South Park Drive. She thought an approaching vehicle was going to turn into the parking lot because it had its turn signal on, so she pulled out onto the road. After the collision, both vehicles stopped and both cars sustained minor damage. But after the other driver stopped his car to inspect the damage, he got back in his car and left, according to the report. DWI On April 12 a 20-year-old woman from Mankato was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and allowing an open bottle. The woman was driving on 133rd Street and was stopped after officers received a driving complaint. Her blood-alcohol content (BAC) was tested at .18. On April 13 a 24-year-old man from Burnsville was arrested for fourth-degree DWI while driving on Princeton Avenue. The man’s BAC was tested at .19. A 25-year-old man from Prior Lake was arrested for first-degree DWI and second-degree test refusal after officers were called to a possible accident in the 9400 block of 158th Street. THEFT A 22-year-old man from Brooklyn Park was cited for theft after officers received a complaint of a bicycle theft from the 7500 block of Egan Drive on April 12. A student at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road, reported his football jersey was stolen while at school. A series of thefts were reported from Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St. Two reports were filed on April 14 where one student reported a cell phone and $60 cash were taken and another reported her iPod was stolen. On April 15 a student reported an iPod was stolen. And on April 16, a staff member reported his briefcase was stolen and a student reported $40 and a Discover card were stolen from her wallet. A resident of the 14000 block of Ridge Point Court reported a trailer was stolen on April 15. A resident of the 13000 block of Foxberry Road, who had her mail stolen from the mailbox in February, reported on April 15 that she thinks the burglars also went into her garaged and unlocked car, stealing her camera and GPS system at the same time the mail was taken. The case is being investigated. BURGLARY A resident of the 9400 block of County Road 101 reported someone tried to break into their home on April 12. There was nothing taken. PROPERTY DAMAGE On April 14, a resident of the 12000 block of Cavell Avenue reported someone threw jelly donuts at his house and vehicle. There was no permanent damage reported. Minnesota Valley Gymnastics, 8103 W. 126th St., reported on April 14 that someone had illegally dumped garbage in their Dumpster. A resident of the 7300 block of Egan Drive reported on April 14 that someone had illegally dumped garbage in his Dumpster. Officials from Glendale Elementary School, 6601 Connelly Parkway, reported graffiti was spray painted on the playground equipment on April 15. The custodial staff was able to wash the images off. Graffiti was reported on the bridge in Canterbury Park, 13444 Inglewood Ave., on April 17. A resident of the 12600 block of Ottawa Avenue reported on April 17 that a vehicle had driven into their yard and damaged the sod. ASSAULT A 14-year-old boy from Savage was arrested after officers received a call of a boy shooting an air soft gun at juveniles on April 11 near the intersection of 147th Street and Idaho Avenue. The boy was arrested for terroristic threats, carrying a BB gun in public, intentionally pointing a firearm at a person, reckless discharge of a firearm in a municipality and intentionally discharging a firearm that endangered the safety of another HARASSMENT While working at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road, a staff member reported receiving a harassing phone called while at work on April 14. MISCELLANEOUS A 20-year-old man from Prior Lake was seen urinating outside his car while on Pennsylvania Avenue on April 12. Patrol officers cited him for indecent exposure, drinking and driving under 21, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Residents in the neighborhood of Canterbury Park, 13444 Inglewood Ave., reported hearing dirt bikes and motorcycles in the park on April 13. When police officers arrived, there wasn’t anyone on the bikes in the park. Shots were heard in the neighborhood of 13000 Zarthan Avenue on April 15. When officers drove around the neighborhood nothing was found.
