Police Report: Feb. 14, 2009

The Savage Police Department issued 69 citations between Jan. 29 and Feb. 4 and responded to 198 incidents between Jan. 30 and Feb. 6. Some of the incidents included the following:

CRASHES

On Jan. 30 a 53-year-old woman from Savage reported a hit-and-run crash in the parking lot of Starbucks, 13945 S. Hwy. 13 Frontage Road.

An 18-year-old Shakopee woman was cited for having no Minnesota driver’s license and no proof of insurance after she was involved in a two-vehicle crash with a 39-year-old Shakopee man in the parking lot of Radio Shack, 14150 S. Hwy. 13, on Jan. 31.

A three vehicle property-damage crash was reported near Highway 13 and Lynn Avenue on Feb. 3. There were minor injuries reported, but no one was transported. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash and wrote the report.

DRIVING VIOLATION

A 30-year-old man from Savage was cited for a school bus stop arm violation after an officer witnessed the man fail to stop for a school bus near Lynn Avenue and McColl Drive on Jan. 30.

Charges of tax evasion and driving after revocation are pending against a 32-year-old man from Savage after police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an obstructed license plate near Ashcroft Alcove and Ashcroft Road on Jan. 30.

DWI

A 24-year-old Spicer man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and speeding after police stopped him for speeding near Highway 13 and Ottawa Avenue on Jan. 31. According to police, the man’s blood alcohol level was .14.

On Feb. 1 a 34-year-old Fridley man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and speeding after he was pulled over near Highway 13 and West 128th Street. According to police, the man’s blood alcohol level was .11.

A 23-year-old Shakopee man was arrested for third-degree DWI and speeding after police stopped the man for traveling 55 mph in a 45-mph zone near Highway 13 and Vernon Avenue on Feb. 1. According to police, the man’s blood alcohol level was .16.

THEFT

A resident of the 14100 block of Toledo Court reported a check was stolen from a mailbox on Feb. 2.

On Feb. 3 a gas drive off of $43 was reported at SuperAmerica, 7881 Connelly Parkway.

A student at Eagle Ridge Junior High, 13955 Glendale Road, reported theft of an iPod with an unknown value on Feb. 3.

A resident of the 4000 block of West 134th Street reported a burglary of a home and theft of more than $700 of tools, electronics and jewelry on Feb. 4.

Police are investigating the theft of an iPod from a student at Eagle Ridge Junior High, 13955 Glendale Road, on Feb. 4.

A Shakopee resident reported a window broken out of a vehicle and theft of a purse while parked at Life Time Fitness, 6550 Loftus Lane, on Feb. 5. The purse was found in the parking lot with nothing missing.

A student at Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St., reported a backpack stolen from a classroom on Feb. 5. The backpack was later located, but an iPod was missing.

On Feb. 5 a student reported theft of an iPod valued at $400 from a gym locker at Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St.

A teacher at Hidden Valley Elementary, 13875 Glendale Road, reported two windows broken out of a vehicle and theft of two bags containing $800 in sheet music on Feb. 5.

On Feb. 5 a teacher at Hidden Valley Elementary, 13875 Glendale Road, reported the theft of several items valued at $250 from an unlocked vehicle parked in the school parking lot.

WEAPONS OFFENSE

Police conducted a search of a student’s locker upon the request of school officials at Eagle Ridge Junior High, 13955 Glendale Road, on Feb. 4. Police found a knife in the locker of a 13-year-old boy from Savage. The knife was not used in an assault, police said. According to police, there are no criminal charges pending against the boy, but a possible expulsion from school is pending.

NARCOTICS

On Feb. 3 a 14-year-old boy from Savage from cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana after police conducted a search of a home in the 13600 block of Lynn Avenue with the homeowner’s consent.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On Feb. 4 a 14-year-old boy from Savage and a 15-year-old boy from Burnsville were both cited for disorderly conduct after being involved in a fight at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road. The boy from Savage was also charged with obstructing the legal process without force.
