The Savage Police Department issued 38 citations between Jan. 18 and 24 and responded to 251 incidents between Jan. 18 and 25. Some of the incidents included the following:
CRASHES
A one-vehicle crash involving a 72-year-old man from Savage was reported Jan. 20 near County Road 16 and Taylor Drive. Apparently, the man lost control of his vehicle, crossed over the center line and drove into a ditch on County Road 16 before he crashed into a fence. When police arrived, the man was found trapped on the floor of the passenger seat of the vehicle. He was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and transported to Fairview Ridges Hospital by Allina.
On Jan. 23 a 29-year-old man from Savage reported a hit-and-run crash after his vehicle was struck while it was parked on the road in the 5400 block of West 133rd Street.A 42-year-old woman from Savage was involved in a one-vehicle crash Jan. 24 after she lost control on icy roads and slid into a snowbank near County Road 16 and Highway 13.
On Jan. 24 a 66-year-old Burnsville woman was involved in a one-vehicle crash near 131½ Street and Glendale Road after she lost control of her vehicle on icy roads, slid off the road and struck a utility box.
DWI
On Jan. 18 a 58-year-old man from Savage was jailed for fourth-degree DWI after he rear-ended a vehicle driven by a 62-year-old man from Savage near Vernon Avenue and County Road 42.
THEFT
A laptop computer valued at $2,036 was reported stolen Jan. 18 from Joella Metal Product, 8215 W. 125th St.
On Jan. 18 a resident reported the theft of a statue of Mary Magdalene valued at $200 from the yard of a home in the 15000 block of Valley View Place.
A 17-year-old boy from Savage was cited for shoplifting at Cub Foods, 14075 Highway 13, on Jan. 20 after police responded to a report that he took five packages of cold medicine valued at $28. The boy was released to his parents.
On Jan. 22 a resident of the 5100 block of Hanrehan Lake Boulevard reported the theft of a car stereo valued at $100 from a vehicle.
BURGLARY
A resident of the 15000 block of Bridgewater Drive reported a burglary on Jan. 21 after someone entered an open garage overnight and stole a bicycle valued at $70 and $10 in coins from a vehicle.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
On Jan. 19 a resident of the 13000 block of Ottawa Avenue reported property damage of an unknown value after a snowmobiler rode over a row of recently-planted trees.
A resident reported property damage of $600 after someone slashed all four of a vehicle’s tires in the 15000 block of Highway 13.
Police are investigating a report of property damage on Jan. 24 after someone drove a vehicle through the gate at Public Storage, 7801 W. Highway 13.
NARCOTICS
An 18-year-old Prior Lake man was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle on Jan. 18 after police conducted a traffic stop near West 124th Street and Lynn Avenue. The passenger, an 18-year-old Prior Lake man, was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Jan. 19 the Dakota County Drug Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant at a home in the 4000 block of West 132nd Street. As a result of the search, police seized drugs suspected to be cocaine and heroin, which were sent to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) for testing. Arrests and criminal complaints are pending further investigation into the case.
The Dakota County Drug Task Force conducted a narcotics search warrant on Jan. 21 at a home in the 6000 block of South Park Drive. As a result of the search, police seized materials believed to be used in a marijuana growing operation, which were sent to the BCA for analysis. Arrests and formal criminal complaints are pending further investigation into the case.
On Jan. 24 a 26-year-old Minnetonka man was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia on Jan. 24 after he was stopped for speeding near Lynn Avenue and West 124th Street.
MISCELLANEOUS
A 45-year-old man from Savage was cited for allowing the illegal operation of a snowmobile by a juvenile, no safety certificate and snowmobiling on commercial land without permission on Jan. 22 after police saw the man snowmobiling with two teens in the 8400 block of Eagle Creek Parkway.
