The Savage Police Department issued 59 citations between April 24 and April 30 and responded to 207 incidents between April 25 and May 2. Some of the incidents included the following:

CRASHES

A resident of the 13000 block of Inglewood Avenue called police on April 27 to report a hit and run crash at near his home. The man reported one vehicle struck another and fled. The report states the driver of the other vehicle was thrown out of the car and began running while the passenger drove the vehicle out of the area. When police later found the car, it was empty.

On April 28, two Savage residents, a 30-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were involved in a crash at the intersection of Quentin and McColl Drive. According to the police report, the man’s vehicle hit the rear end of the woman’s vehicle after he thought she pulled away from the stop sign and into traffic. The damage was minor and there were no injuries.

DWI

On April 29 a 22-year-old Chaska man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after he was stopped for poor driving conduct while driving on Highway 13. His blood-alcohol content was.13, according to the police report.

While driving on Egan Drive on April 29, a 33-year-old Rosemount man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and speeding. According to the police report, the man’s blood-alcohol content was .14.

A 21-year-old Richfield man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI on April 30 after speeding while driving on Highway 13. The man had his blood drawn and blood-alcohol content results are pending.

THEFT

A woman from the 13000 block of Inglewood Avenue reported on April 27 that a punching bag was stolen from her back yard.

A man from the 14000 block of Featherstone Trail reported on April 28 that someone broke the window out on his vehicle and stole the Global Position System (GPS) unit.

A ring was reported stolen from the girls locker room at Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St., by an 18-year-old girl on April 28.

An employee of Kwik Trip, 14175 Vernon Ave., called police on April 28 to report a theft. They reported there were three men who stole pop, candy and other snacks from the store. An officer noticed a boy matching the description at another convenience store along County Road 42 and two others across the street had just fled into the woods. Back up officers were called and one of the other suspects was eventually caught. An 18-year-old Edina man was cited for possession of stolen property and a 17-year-old boy from Savage was cited for fleeing a police officer on foot and misdemeanor theft.

FRAUD

On April 27 a 24-year-old Minneapolis woman was arrested for possession of a counterfeit check and offering a forged check after officers received a call from TCF Bank, 14075 Hwy. 13.

BURGLARY

A burglary alarm at Super USA, 4301 W. Hwy. 13, alerted police to a problem on May 2. When police arrived, the found there was forced entry and two cash registers, each with about $100 in them, were stolen. The case is being investigated.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident in the 4400 block of 133rd Street reported on April 29 their mailbox was vandalized when someone lit firecrackers in it.

ASSAULT

A student at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road, reportedly wrote a “hit list” on a dry-erase board in a classroom on April 25. After being confronted by a resource officer in the school, the student admitted to writing the list, but said it was composed of deceased presidents, fictitious characters and just one real person. The student was disciplined by the school and no criminal action was pursued.

While in a home economics course at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road, a 12-year-old boy allegedly held a knife up to another student on April 29. A witness reported it was a joke, there were no criminal charges against the boy, but he was suspended from school for five days.

HARASSMENT

Two boys from Savage, ages 13 and 14, were cited for disorderly conduct after getting into a fight at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road, on April 28.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A bus driver reported on April 28 that two 15-year-old boys were being disrespectful and disruptive. The students were not regular bus riders and were removed from the bus near 135th Street and Yosemite Avenue, where police transported them to their respective homes.

WEAPONS OFFENSE

On April 28 officers and school administrators at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road, investigated an incident where a student reportedly was talking about obtaining hazardous materials. There was no threat to the school and no students were found responsible for the incident.

LIQUOR LAW VIOLATIONS

Officers received a call to respond to a bus stop on County Road 42 on April 30 where a man was drinking beer. A 16-year-old boy from Savage and an 18-year-old Edina man were cited for minor consumption and minor possession of alcohol.

MISCELLANEOUS

A woman called police on April 27 to report she heard gun shots in the neighborhood of 126th Street and Joppa Avenue. When police investigated the area, nothing was seen or heard.
