Police Report: Nov. 1, 2008

The Savage Police Department issued 62 citations between Oct. 16 and 22 and responded to 207 incidents between Oct. 17 and 24. Some of the incidents included the following:

CRASHES

A 28-year-old woman from Savage was cited hit-and-run and driving after suspension on Oct. 17 after witnesses observed her back into a neighbor’s trailer that was parked in the 13300 block of Natchez Avenue and left the scene of the crash.

A resident of the 5500 block of West 131st Street reported a hit-and-run on Oct. 17 after a vehicle hit a truck that was parked in the street overnight causing scratches on the rear driver’s side door.

A 77-year-old man from Savage was involved in a car versus deer crash near Dakota Avenue and Dufferin Drive on Oct. 17. There were no injuries.

On Oct. 19 a 19-year-old Prior Lake man was cited for failure to yield the right of way after making a turn from Glendale Road onto McColl Drive where he was hit by a car driven by a 50-year-old man from Savage who had the right of way. One passenger was transported to Fairview Ridges Hospital with unknown injuries.

A 31-year-old Clarksville, Tenn. woman was arrested for no driver’s license, no proof of insurance and a semaphore violation after running a stop sign at the intersection of Lynn Avenue and West 123rd Street and hitting a 49-year-old man from Savage on Oct. 20. There were no injuries. 

DRIVING VIOLATION

A 32-year-old Minneapolis woman was cited for intent to escape motor vehicle tax and no proof of insurance after police stopped her for have an expired registration near Highway 13 and Connelly Parkway on Oct. 18. Upon investigation it was found that the woman had registration tabs from another vehicle.

On Oct. 18 a 34-year-old Minneapolis man was cited for driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety after being stopped for impeding traffic near County Road 101 and Zinran Avenue.

DWI

A 31-year-old Burnsville man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and a stop sign violation near 154th Street and Dakota Avenue after police stopped him for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign. The man’s blood alcohol level registered at 0.185.

A 39-year-old Burnsville man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after police stopped the man for suspicious behavior near South Park Drive and Hunters Lane on Oct. 21. The man’s blood alcohol level was 0.13, according to police.

An 18-year-old Lakeville man was cited for under-age drinking and driving, having an obstructed license plate and a cracked windshield after police made a stop for poor driving conduct in the 4700 block of Highway 13 on Oct. 21.

A 20-year-old Prior Lake man was cited for under-age drinking and driving near Highway 13 and Yosemite Avenue on Oct. 24 after being stopped because the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. The passenger, an 18-year-old Shakopee man, was jailed for giving false information to a police officer.

On Oct. 24 a 25-year-old Burnsville man was jailed for fourth-degree DWI and third-degree test refusal after police received a report of an impaired driver near Dakota Avenue and West 138th Street.

THEFT

Police are investigating a complaint about an employee theft at Tile White Inc., 13857 S. Hwy. 13 on Oct. 17. The amount of money stolen was not disclosed due to the investigation.

A resident of the 14500 block of Quentin Avenue reported a burglary and theft of jewelry and cash valued at $2,700 from their home on Oct. 19. The case is under investigation.

On Oct. 20 a gas drive off of $20 was reported at SuperAmerica, 8660 Egan Drive.

A 16-year-old Prior Lake boy reported theft of a wallet with cash and gift cards left unattended in a classroom at Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St., on Oct 22. The wallet and contents were valued at $560.

A 54-year-old Stillwater man reported a window broken out of a vehicle and the theft of a camera and desk planner valued at $315 while the vehicle was parked at Continental Machines, 5505 W. 123rd St., on Oct. 22. The desk planner was recovered. The amount of damage from the broken window was estimated at $245.

FRAUD

A resident of the 7600 block of Crimson Lane reported the fraudulent use of a debit card and an attempted use of a credit card on Oct. 20. The fraudulent transactions totaled about $215.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

On Oct. 18 a resident of the 4600 block of West 131½ Street reported that a pumpkin was smashed and two cars that were parked in the driveway were egged.

A Savage city employee reported that someone painted graffiti on a Savage Public Works building, 12955 S. Lynn Ave., on Oct. 21. The graffiti was gang-related symbols. There is an unknown amount of damage.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On Oct. 20 police responded to Eagle Ridge Junior High, 13955 Glendale Road, for a report of a 14-year-old boy from Burnsville who refused to leave after being suspended. Police escorted the student out of school.

A 16-year-old boy from Savage was cited for disorderly conduct after allegedly punching another 16-year-old boy at Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St., on Oct. 22.
