Police Report: Nov. 21, 2009

The Savage Police Department issued 61 citations between Nov. 9 and 15 and responded to 222 incidents between Nov. 9 and 16. Some of the incidents included the following:

CRASHES

A 54-year-old Lakeville man was involved in a car-versus-deer crash near County Road 42 and Natchez Avenue on Nov. 9.

On Nov. 10 a 46-year-old Prior Lake man was involved in a car-versus-deer crash near County Road 27 and West 150th Street.

A 79-year-old Elko woman was cited for failure to yield the right of way after she was involved in a personal-injury crash with a 28-year-old Shakopee man near County Road 42 and Boone Avenue on Nov. 11. It was reported that the Elko woman turned right from Boone Avenue onto County Road 42 when she pulled out in front of the Shakopee man who struck her vehicle on the driver’s side. A 3-year-old child who was a passenger in the Shakopee man’s vehicle was checked for injuries by Allina.

A 20-year-old Eagan woman and a 23-year-old Prior Lake woman were involved in a property-damage crash near County Road 42 and Boone Avenue after traffic was backed up and the Prior Lake woman rear-ended the Eagan woman’s vehicle on Nov. 11.

On Nov. 15 a 27-year-old Belle Plaine man reported a hit-and-run crash that occurred in the parking lot of Cub Foods, 14075 S. Hwy. 13.

DRIVING VIOLATION

Police are investigating a report of a school bus stop arm violation that occurred in the 14400 block of Alabama Avenue on Nov. 13.

DWI

A 34-year-old Carver woman was arrested for third-degree DWI-test refusal and an equipment violation after police stopped her for driving at night without headlights near South Highway 13 and South Park Drive on Nov. 14.

THEFT

A student at Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St., reported the theft of a cell phone valued at $100 from an unlocked locker in the locker room on Nov. 9.

Police are investigating a report of theft after a laptop computer valued at $2,000 was stolen from a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a home in the 14500 block of O’Connell Road overnight on Nov. 10.

On Nov. 10 a student at Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St., reported the theft of a backpack valued at $75.

A resident of the 14500 block of Princeton Avenue reported the theft of $30 in change from two unlocked vehicles that were parked in the driveway of the home on Nov. 10.

On Nov. 10 a student at Eagle Ridge Junior High, 13955 Glendale Road, reported the theft of a cell phone valued at $400 from a locker.

A gas drive-off of $10 was reported at Kwik Trip, 14175 Vernon Ave., on Nov. 11.

On Nov. 12 a resident of the 14500 block of Alabama Avenue reported a window was smashed out of a vehicle and personal items valued at $50 were stolen.

A resident of the 4600 block of West 144th Street reported a vehicle window was smashed out and a purse and its contents valued at $500, jewelry worth $100, a camera valued at $350, sunglasses and a case worth $160 and a cell phone valued at $400 were stolen on Nov. 12. The case is under investigation.

On Nov. 12 a resident of the 4900 block of West 147th Street reported the theft of a cell phone valued at $100 from a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a home overnight.

The theft of mail was reported by a resident of the 5400 block of West 132nd Street on Nov. 13. There is an unknown loss.

A Prior Lake resident reported that a vehicle window was broken out and personal checks valued at $5,800 were stolen from the vehicle while it was parked at Life Time Fitness, 6550 Loftus Lane on Nov. 13.

A 26-year-old Burnsville woman was cited for shoplifting 31 items valued at $232 from Walgreens, 8100 Egan Drive, on Nov. 14. The items were recovered and returned.  

BURGLARY

Police are investigating a report of a residential burglary in the 14300 block of Kipling Avenue on Nov. 10. It was reported that forced entry through a window was used to get into the home and jewelry valued at $6,800 and $1,200 worth of electronic equipment was stolen.

ASSAULT

A Burnsville man reported being poisoned while at his place of employment, at Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill, 14425 S. Hwy. 13, on Nov. 9. After investigation, police believe someone put dishwasher soap in the man’s Gatorade. The man stated he took a drink from his bottle, but it didn’t taste right and he didn’t feel well. The man went to the hospital, where he was treated and later released.

On Nov. 11 a resident reported that her 11-year-old grandson was assaulted by a school bus driver in the 4800 block of West 140th Street. The boy alleged that the bus driver grabbed him by the shirt, shook and then choked him. The case is under investigation.

LIQUOR LAW VIOLATIONS

A 14-year-old boy from Savage was cited for minor consumption of alcohol and a curfew violation in the 13800 block of Edgewood Avenue on Nov. 15.

MISCELLANEOUS

Arson was reported in the 4800 block of West 124th Street after a garbage can was lit on fire in the middle of the street on Nov. 15. An off-duty firefighter extinguished the fire.
