Police Report: Nov. 22, 2008

The Savage Police Department issued 40 citations between Nov. 6 and 12 and responded to 234 incidents between Nov. 7 and 14. Some of the incidents included the following:

CRASHES

On Nov. 8 a personal-injury crash involving an 18-year-old man from Savage was reported after the man said he “blacked out” just before striking a parked car near O’Connell Road and South Park Drive. The man was transported to the hospital by Allina. There were no violations issued in the crash.

On Nov. 8 a 45-year-old Mounds View man was cited for failure to yield the right of way after he ran a red light and struck a 48-year-old Eden Prairie man in the intersection of South Highway 13 and Egan Drive. No one was transported.

A 55-year-old Bloomington man was transported with head injuries after a two-vehicle crash near McColl Drive and South Vernon Avenue on Nov. 9. It was reported that the Bloomington man pulled out in front of the vehicle driven by a 26-year-old woman from Savage. The Bloomington man was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

A 71-year-old Bloomington man hit a deer near South Highway 13 and West 136th Street on Nov. 11. The deer ran into the swamp. The man reported minor damage to his vehicle.

DRIVING VIOLATION

A 24-year-old man from Savage was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Scott County after police stopped him for speeding in the 7400 block of West 144th Street on Nov. 7. The man was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, driving after suspension, failing to change the address on a driver’s license and speeding.

DWI

On Nov. 9 a 31-year-old Prior Lake man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and a stoplight violation after police saw the man make a left turn after the signal turned red near West Highway 13 and South Yosemite Avenue. The man’s blood alcohol level was .10.

A 22-year-old man from Savage was arrested for third-degree DWI after police made a traffic stop for a stop sign violation near Maryland Avenue and Connelly Parkway on Nov. 10. The man was also cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana in a vehicle, an uncased firearm in a vehicle, driving after revocation, a stop sign violation and a seatbelt violation. The man’s blood alcohol level was .15.

THEFT

A Burnsville man reported theft of a license plate and VIN plate from a trailer that was being stored in the 12400 block of Boone Avenue on Nov. 7.

A resident of the 9000 block of West 125th Street reported fraudulent charges for $509.15 against a checking account on Nov. 7. All the charges occurred in Michigan.

On Nov. 7 a Shakopee resident reported theft of a bag with an unknown value after a vehicle was broken into in the parking lot of Life Time Fitness, 6550 Loftus Lane.

Eden Baptist Church, 12540 Glenhurst Ave., reported a burglary and theft of a computer valued at $500 on Nov. 7. Entry was made to the church through a window. This is the second burglary of a church in the last two months. Church burglary is rare, police said. Police are looking into the possibility that the two burglaries are related.

A resident of the 14900 block of Mustang Path reported theft of cash from the home on Nov. 10.

On Nov. 11 a 19-year-old man from Savage was arrested for simple robbery and minor consumption of alcohol after police received a report that the man took two bottles of beer from a victim in the 3900 block of West 126th Street.

Police are investigating the theft of a video game system and games with an unknown value from a home in the 3900 block of West 126th Street on Nov. 12.

A resident of the 12300 block of Princeton Avenue reported theft of a tire cover valued at $250 from a vehicle.

A resident of the 3900 block of West 126th Street reported theft of a television and compact disc player valued at $510.

BURGLARY

Charges are pending against a 19-year-old man with no permanent address for first-degree burglary and fifth-degree assault after the man allegedly forced his way into his mother’s home in the 4400 block of West 137th Street on Nov. 12.

Police are investigating a report of a man masturbating in his vehicle while in traffic near West Highway 13 and South Yosemite Avenue on Nov. 12.
