Shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday, police responded to an abandoned 911 call from White Castle in Shakopee, where two men were robbing the fast-food restaurant by gunpoint.
A customer also made a 911 call after he couldn’t place an order on drive-through at the 24-hour eatery and checked the store door, where he was asked by an employee to call police.
The robbers, who wore dark-colored jackets and black face masks, got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Both carried guns, one described as a black handgun.
One of the suspects was thought to be about 6 feet 4 inches tall and
175 pounds. The other was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150
pounds. Police are unsure of the men’s race.
White Castle, 8011 North Old Carriage Court, is located in the Southbridge area of far-eastern Shakopee, near Savage.
Shakopee Police Captain Craig Robson said the incident doesn’t appear to be linked to patterns of robberies throughout the Twin Cities, such as a recent string of Caribou Coffee robberies. An arrest was made in the coffee shop robberies on Monday.
Last month in Shakopee, there was an armed robbery of Burger King and an attempted robbery of Payless Gas Station, both on First Avenue.
A 19-year-old Prior Lake man, Holden Colby Smith, was arrested in those
incidents.
Anyone with information about the White Castle robbery is asked to call Shakopee Police at (952) 233-9400.
