Artist-in-residence Leo Lara plays the turtle shell at Harriet Bishop Elementary School. students have spent time learning Latin American music from Lara for part of a presentation for the school’s Grandparents Day on Nov. 25. Lara taught the students music from his native Ecuador using other instruments including strung shells, turtle shells and whistles.
