The Burnsville volleyball team won four of five matches at the Marshall Invitational Sept 5-6 and fishished ninth overall in the 32-team field.

The Blaze's four wins were against Fergus Falls (25-9, 25-11), Bismark Century (25-18, 25-20), Hopkins (23-25, 25-23, 15-8) and Andover (25-21, 25-17).

Burnsville's one loss was to No. 8-ranked Wayzata (25-20, 25-19) in the second round.

The Blaze is 6-3 on the season (0-2 in the Lake Conference). Burnsville headed into the tourney on the heels of a 22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20 conference loss to No. 3 Eastview on Sept. 4.

Burnsville's other loss this season is to a ranked team as well (No. 1 Chaska).

The Blaze will try its first win of the season over a ranked team on Monday, Sept. 8 when it plays at No. 10 Apple Valley in a conference game at 7 p.m. Burnsville started the season ranked No. 10 in the Class AAA poll.
