The Scott County Board has invited the public to an open house to review and offer input on the Draft 2030 “Vision” for the future of the county on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Government Center, 200 Fourth Ave. W. in Shakopee.
County commissioners, planning commission members, county staff and members of the public and others will discuss how, when and where the county should grow — and what it should look like in the year 2030.
The open house is the most recent in several public meetings that have been held to garner public feedback and perspective on the future of the region. Through the summer months, several “visioning” workshops were held in various locations throughout the county to “paint a picture” to help guide the 2030 comprehensive plan update process. After many months of gathering feedback, offering various scenarios and analyzing information that ranged from infrastructure needs to the aging of the population, county officials and staff have outlined a series of strategic challenges that will define the direction of growth and development over the next several decades.
The Draft 2030 “Vision” can be reviewed by contacting the county Community Development Division at (952) 496-8475 or by visiting the county Web site at www.co.scott.mn.us [1] under “what’s new in Scott County?”
