Joe Loftus of Savage, a senior at the Academy of Holy Angels, has made a verbal committment to play Division I baseball at Vanderbilt Unviersity.

Loftus led the Missota Conference in hitting with a .531 batting average, along with nine home runs and 34 RBIs in 64 at bats.

This past summer, Loftus was one of three Minnesotans to be selected to play in the 21st annual Area Code Baseball Games in Long Beach, Calif. The week-look games featured the  top high school seniors in the nation to compete in Major League Baseball-sponsored games in front of pro and college scouts.
