The Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association awarded Savage Police Officer Eugene Miller and Detective Laura Kvasnicka Distinguished Service awards in April at the association’s annual conference in Duluth.An audience of 450 Minnesota police chiefs and law enforcement colleagues applauded Miller and Kvasnicka for their service during an incident that occurred in 2007.Chief Rodney Seurer recognized the significance of Miller and Kvasnicka’s efforts in setting standards of expectations and “going the extra mile” within the department. He said they have persisted in cases of missing persons and murders, consistently delivering superior results in their investigations.Kvasnicka was also awarded an excellence in performance award from the Minnesota Association of Women Police. The award was preseted as a way of reconizing her day-to-day commitment in investigation and special assistance.
Seurer is a member of the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association and continues to represent the Savage Police Department among other law enforcement agencies in legislative initiatives and to seek advice on timely issues of public safety. The association of 350 Minnesota chief members has existed since 1954 to deliver executive-level police chief training; community and legislative support; advisory representation to state technology, crime and drug task forces and mentorship for chiefs and command staff.
