The Burnsville badminton team earned the No. 8 seed in the state tournament and will face ninth-seeded Minneapolis South on Tuesday, May 13 at St. Paul Harding High School.

The winner will take on the winner of top-seeded St. Paul Harding and 16th-seeded Minneapolis Roosevelt in the quarterfinals, which directly follows first-round action.

The state semifinals and title match will be held at Burnsville High School on Wednesday, May 14.

Other first-round matchups include second-seeded St. Paul Johnson against 15th-seeded Minneapolis Washburn, third-seeded Eden Prairie versus 14th-seeded Minneapolis Southwest, fourth-seeded St. Paul Central versus 13th-seeded Minneapolis Henry, fifth-seeded St. Paul Highland Park versus 12th-seeded Minneapolis North, sixth-seeded St. Paul Como Park versus 11th-seeded St. Paul Humboldt and seventh-seeded St. Paul Arlington versus 10th-seeded Minneapolis Edison

Burnsville takes a 4-10 overall record in state.

The state individual tournament will be held Thursday, May 15 and end Friday at Harding High School.
