Retirement party planned

Mr. Ronald V. Cin, current principal of Marion W. Savage Elementary, has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2008. A community celebration will be at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, May 29 at M. W. Savage Elementary School, 4819 West 126th Street, Savage. The entire community, including, current and former parents, students, staff, and community members are invited is invited to join in celebrating Cin’s retirement.

Cin has worked in District 191 since 1986.  He has worked to bridge the gap between the school and the Savage community. Cin has been involved with the Savage Chamber of Commerce for a number of years serving on the Board of Directors. In 2000 he was named the Business Person of the Year. He was a Savage Cable Advisory Board member and is a Charter member of the Savage Economic Development Commission. Cin has also been involved with United Way and Kiwanis.

Cin graduated from Alberta High School in Alberta. He earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Minnesota, Morris. Later he attended St. Cloud University where he earned a master’s degree and a specialist degree in education administration from St. Cloud University.

During his career, he has held a variety of positions. He began his teaching career in 1967 as a sixth grade teacher at Osseo Elementary in Osseo, Minnesota. At Montevideo he taught sixth grade for two years before becoming an educational specialist. From 1974 to 1986 Cin served as an elementary principal in Montevideo. While at Montevideo, he was a director of summer school programs.

Cin grew up on a farm northwest of Morris, Minnesota with his three brothers and sister. He met his wife, Sharon , at the University of Minnesota, Morris. In June of 1967 they graduated together from the university with teaching degrees. They were married one week later. They have three children and six grandchildren.

Once retired, Cin plans to spend time with Sharon and their families and friends. Traveling, beautifying their lake home, biking, reading, playing tennis, water skiing and attending concerts are all on the agenda. He will also become involved as a volunteer in humanitarian activities.
