Teachers in two schools in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 have received grants to fund innovative classroom projects.
Grants were awarded by the Education Minnesota Foundation for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
At Harriet Bishop Elementary School in Savage, Melissa Roeske, Rob Nelson and Cheryl Haberlack received a grant to test the use of stability balls in the classroom to see if they make a difference in the behavior and attention span of elementary students and also boost academic performance.
At Nicollet Junior High School in Burnsville, a team comprised of Cheryl Gores, Amy Olson, Lisa Roen, Laurie Coddington, Clayton Holt and Tammy McDonough received a grant to support the creation of a library of interactive science lessons and experiments to help prepare students for the MCA-II science test.
