Students from Burnsville High School earned medals in competitions as part of the FCCLA-HERO (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America -Home Economics Related Occupations) State Leadership Conference in April. Joanna Segura-Perez, of Savage, who is enrolled in the Food Industry Careers Program at Dakota County Secondary Technical Center (DCSTC), placed third in state in the Closed Sandwich Competition and the Culinary Star Event.Gaspar Simmons, of Savage, who is enrolled in the Food Industry Careers Program, placed third in the Meal Service Competition and the Culinary Star Event.

Brittany West, of Burnsville, who is enrolled in the Fundamental Chef Training Program, placed third in state in the Combination Sandwich Competition.
