Police report: May 17, 2008

The Savage Police Department issued 60 citations between May 1 and May 7 and responded to 226 incidents between May 2 and May 9. Some of the incidents included the following:

CRASHES

A crash near the intersection of County Road 42 and Glendale Road on May 4 resulted in no injuries, but both vehicles were towed. Two Burnsville men were involved in the accident, ages 36 and 33.

After dropping his cell phone on the floor of his minivan, a 35-year-old man from Savage hit the center pylon while driving south on Lynn Avenue under the railroad bridge on May 6. The man was not injured and the vehicle was towed.

DRIVING VIOLATION

A 24-year-old Eagan man was cited for a school bus arm violation after an officer saw the driver fail to stop while driving on McColl Drive on May 7.

A 58-year-old Prior Lake man was cited for a school bus arm violation after an officer and two witnesses saw the driver fail to stop for the extended arm and flashing lights while driving on Glenhurst Avenue on May 8.

DWI

While driving on Highway 13 on May 4, a 56-year-old Eagan man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after he was stopped for speeding. The man’s blood-alcohol content results were pending after a urine analysis.

An officer stopped a vehicle on Boudin Street in Prior Lake on May 7 after the driver squealed the tires near the intersection of Highway 13 and South Park Drive in Savage. The driver, a 21-year-old Prior Lake man was arrested for third-degree DWI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

THEFT

A teacher at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road, reported on May 2 a cell phone was stolen.

While parked at a friend’s home in the 9200 block of Woodridge Way, a Winnipeg, Manitoba resident reported items were stolen from a vehicle on May 3.

A man reported on May 5 that copper wire was stolen from the rear of a semi-truck parked in the 12000 block of Wyoming Avenue.

A landlord reported on May 5 former tenants of a home in the 13000 block of Edgewood Avenue moved out and took the garage door opener, keys and patio furniture.

On May 5 a resident of the 14000 block of Louisiana Avenue reported a bicycle was stolen from the front of their house.

While hosting a party at his home on May 5 in the 4800 block of Spruce Lane, a resident reported a ring was stolen from a bedroom.

A skateboard ramp was reported stolen from a home in the 15000 block of Bridgewater Court on May 6.

A 43-year-old man from Prior Lake was arrested for shoplifting on May 7 after he was allegedly caught trying to steal five DVDs from Cub Foods, 14075 Hwy. 13.

BURGLARY

On May 2, a resident of the 139000 block of Colorado Avenue reported his garage was entered and a case of beer was stolen from a refrigerator.

A resident of the 5900 block of Dufferin Drive reported on May 5 that someone had entered his unlocked garage and stole a cell phone and debit card from his car.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A Rosemount resident reported his car was keyed May 4 while parked in the 9200 block of 141st Street.

Suspected gang graffiti was reported May 4 by Rainbow Foods, 14100 S. Hwy. 13. The graffiti, in blue spray paint, included a five pointed star and a Playboy Bunny painted on the back of the grocery store.

On May 4 a woman from the 6900 block of 147th Street reported her vehicle window was shot out by what appeared to be a BB gun.

Valvoline Oil, 14151 Vernon Ave., reported someone had left a television and an air conditioning unit near their dumpster on May 6.

A driver’s side mirror was reportedly smashed off a vehicle parked in the 13300 block of Monterey Avenue on May 6.

A resident of the 14000 block of River Crossing reported on May 8 that someone threw eggs, ketchup and mustard at their home.

NARCOTICS

Two students at Prior Lake High School, 7575 W. 150th St., were cited on narcotic charges. A 15-year-old girl from Prior Lake was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and a 16-year-old Prior Lake boy was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana. The two were cited after officers received a complaint of a student in possession of drugs.

ASSAULT

Police officers were called to Neisen’s Bar, 4851 W. 123rd St., on May 2 to respond to a bar fight. A 26-year-old Burnsville man was arrested for fifth-degree assault.

MISCELLANEOUS

Five gun shots were heard near the intersection of 126th Street and Glenhurst Avenue on May 4. Officers were unable to find any suspects.

A resident of the 13200 block of Kipling Avenue reported two juveniles were in the neighborhood with a rifle. The gun was BB gun and the parents of the children were notified, so no criminal action was taken.

After walking into a boy’s bathroom at Eagle Ridge Junior High School, 13955 Glendale Road, a student stomped out a paper towel that was on fire on May 8. There was no one else in the bathroom and the student notified a teacher after putting the fire out.
