The Savage Police Department issued 31 citations between July 10 and 16 and responded to 280 incidents between July 11 and 18. Some of the incidents included the following:
CRASHES
A three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 13 and Zinran Avenue was reported on July 12 involved a 35-year-old Prior Lake woman, a 77-year-old Eden Prairie man and a 54-year-old Plymouth man. There were no injuries.
At the intersection of Glendale Road and Glendale Court on July 13, a 23-year-old man from Savage and a 25-year-old Savage police officer were involved in a property-damage crash. While on a traffic stop, the Savage resident’s truck began rolling backward as a result of a manual transmission. The officer activated the siren and the truck stopped rolling. But as the officer was writing a citation for no proof of insurance, the truck began rolling backward again and pushed in the bumper of the squad car at a low rate of speed. The bumper of the squad car was scratched. There was no damage to the truck.
A crash at the intersection of county roads 42 and 27 on July 17 involved a 19-year-old man from Savage and a 41-year-old man from Apple Valley. According to the police report, the 19-year-old was driving too fast around the corner of County Road 27, slid into the median, damaged a sign and crashed into the other car. The 19-year-old was cited for careless driving. There were no injuries.
A two-car crash at Target, 14333 Highway 13, on July 17 involved a 71-year-old Prior Lake woman and a 30 year-old woman from Savage. According to police, the 71-year-old crashed into the other car while pulling into a parking space. There was minor damage to the vehicles.
DWI
A 56-year-old Prior Lake man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after he was pulled over for failing to stop at a stoplight near Highway 13 and South Park Drive on July 11.
On July 11, a 24-year-old Bloomington man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after he was stopped for speeding near County Road 101 and Zinran Avenue.
A 20-year-old Lakeville man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after he was stopped for speeding near Highway 13 and Vernon Avenue on July 14.
THEFT
Throughout the week many reports from gas stations of drive offs were reported. Super America, 14211 O’Connell Road, reported a gas drive off of $64.18 on July 11, but the 49-year-old New Prague woman was contacted by police and returned to pay for the fuel. BP Gas Station, 4905 Hwy. 13, reported a gas drive off of $24.99 on July 12, but a suspect was not identified. Kwik Trip, 14175 Vernon Ave., reported a gas drive off for $40.24 on July 15. On July 16, SuperAmerica, 8660 Egan Drive, reported a gas drive off for $50.04. SuperAmerica, 7881 Connelly Pkwy., reported a gas drive off of $15.08 on July 17 and a gas drive off for $40.23 on July 17.
A resident of the 4100 block of 133rd Street reported a baseball glove and football worth $70 were stolen from an unlocked car parked in the driveway on July 11.
A DVD player worth $500 was reported stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway of the 14500 block of Lockslie Trail.
A resident of the 4400 block of 132nd Street reported that eight guns valued at $2,000, an X-Box gaming system and games valued at $400 and three computers valued at $2,000 were stolen from the home on July 13. Police have suspects and the case is under investigation.
On July 13, a Savage resident reported theft of Craftsman tools valued at $500 from an open garage in the 5200 block of Dufferin Drive.
An iPod valued at $300 and a camera worth $200 was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 13900 block of Yosemite Circle on July 14.
A resident in the 6900 block of South Park Drive reported men’s clothing valued at $100, a camera valued at $150, a radar detector worth $60 and a computer keyboard valued at $50 were stolen from a vehicle parked in the garage.
After leaving a garage door open overnight on July 15, a resident in the 14500 block of Lockslie Trail reported theft of a fishing depth finder valued at $99 and three sets of golf clubs valued at $1,000.
A 15-year-old girl from Savage and an 18-year-old Rosemount woman were both cited for theft after fleeing Deluxe Nails, 14107 Hwy. 13, without paying for services on July 16.
On July 17, an Eagan resident reported that a car valued at $10,000 was stolen while parked in the lot of Continental Machines, 5505 123rd St. It was reported that the car was still parked in the lot at 12:45 p.m., but after getting off work at 2:45 p.m. the car was gone. The case is under investigation.
A Lakeville resident reported that a purse, $20 in cash, a credit card and a checkbook were stolen from a car parked in the lot of Continental Machines, 5505 123rd St. on July 17.
BURGLARY
A resident in the 7400 block of 144th Street reported a burglary on July 12. The resident reported that a garage attached to the home was broken into and $447 in cash, a MP3 player valued at $120 and a wallet worth $10 were stolen from a vehicle parked in the garage.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
On July 13, a resident in the 9000 block of 125th Street reported a house was egged and a window on a vehicle was damaged about two months ago. There are no suspects. The amount of damage is unknown.
Prior Lake Aggregates, 8680 158th Street, reported property damage to two vehicles on July 15. It was reported that the windows of a Mack truck and windshield of a Caterpillar dump truck were broken. The estimated damage was $1,300.
NARCOTICS
After conducting a consented search warrant of a home in the 6100 block of 154th Street for alleged marijuana use on July 11, police located and seized a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and eight marijuana plants. Charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacturing a controlled substance are pending for two 21-year-old men from Savage and a 20-year-old man from Savage. The case is still an active investigation.
MISCELLANEOUS
After receiving complaints of a man throwing fireworks out of a vehicle, police cited a 17-year-old Burnsville man for throwing fireworks at a motor vehicle near Highway 13 and McColl Drive on July 14.
