A joint powers agreement between the city and Scott County for assessment services was approved Aug. 4 by the Savage City Council.
The city has contracted with the county since 1988 for assessment services, which includes annual appraisals/reappraisal of at least 20 percent of parcels in the city to establish estimated market value. The county also provides Board of Review services to the city, where property owners can come to look at the county’s records of their property and to appeal the assessed amount. Next year, the county will be doing a 100 percent assessment of all commercial properties in the city.
The contract amount for 2009 is $117,600, which is based on the 2008 valuation record count of 10,238 parcels.
