The Burnsville football team struggled in its season opener on Aug. 30.
The Blaze fell behind 17-0 in the first half and never recovered in a 38-7 loss to Eastview in a Lake Conference game.
The Lightning defense held Burnsville to just 165 total yards and lost the shutout with 4:17 to play in the fourth quarter. Burnsville sophomore Cameron Jones hit senior Corey Babcock on an 11-yard scoring strike. Babcock finished with three catches for 45 yards.
Jones complete three of 10 passes for 49 yards, while starting Blaze quarterback Stephen Lembke was 2 of 12 for 16 yards and one interception.
That interception was returned 10 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter for a 31-0 Eastview lead.
Jones and sophomore C.J. Smith each had 27 yards rushing to the lead the Blaze.
Junior defensive back Joshua Triemer led the Blaze with six tackles.
Burnsville will try to get its first win on Friday, Sept. 5 when it travels to Rosemount for a conference game at 7 p.m.
