Soul Reactor, the youth ministry of Bridgewood Church is playing host to a food fight to create awareness about hunger on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on the church grounds, 6201 W. 135th St. (across from Savage Community Park).

All sixth through 12th grade students are invited to join in the fun and festivities.

In addition to being a food drive to collect canned goods for the Mobile Food Shelf of Minnesota, the featured event is “The Battle Royal – a Food Fight Against Hunger!,” which is an all-out food brawl (using the unservable leftovers from local food services). Other event activities include: a chocolate syrup Slip ‘n Slide, guest speaker, free snacks and refreshments and the Savage Fire Department to hose the students off at the end of the night. Participants are urged to come dressed for mess.

The only cost for the event is non-perishable food items for the food shelf (a minimum $5 approximate value is suggested.) However, those who can’t afford to bring canned goods, are invited to come anyway to join in the fun.
