Larson scattered seven hits and allowed three earned runs, while striking out four. Craig Simonson went two for four with three RBIs in the win, while Anders Engberg had two RBIs. Zach Harazon had a double, RBI and run scored, while Evan Walker went two for four with two runs scored. Boys golf: Blaze junior is medalist at eight-team inviteMay 10, 2008 - 12:03pm — Tom SchardinBy Tom Schardin, Staff Writer Burnsville Junior Dan Kambeitz fired his best round of the spring on May 9 at the Section 2 Class 3AAA Preview Tournament at Oakdale Golf Club. Kambeitz shot an even-par 71 to lead all golfers in the eight-team invite. As a team, the Blaze finished seventh with a score of 326, which was 34 shots behind champion Eden Prairie. Chaska was second (305), followed by Jefferson (313), Hutchinson (315), Prior Lake (317) and Shakopee (319). Kennedy was eighth (343). Softball: Blaze loses battle of ranked teamsMay 9, 2008 - 10:02am — Tom SchardinThe Burnsville softball team lost for only the second time in the last 11 games on May 8, falling 1-0 in a Lake Conference road game. The game featured two of Class AAA's ranked teams - the No. 6 Blaze and No. 7 Bloomington Jefferson. The Jaguars scored the game's only run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning. Ninth-grader Kelsey Anderson took the loss for the Blaze, despite allowing only three hits and no earned runs in six innings. Girls golf: Blaze wins conference quadrangularMay 9, 2008 - 9:18am — Tom SchardinThe Burnsville girls golf team won a Lake Conference quadrangular on May 8 at Chaska Town Course. Junior Gretchen Huhnerkoch was the medalist shooting a 2-over par 38 to lead the Blaze. Burnsville had a team score of 175, which was seven shots better than runner-up Eden Prairie. Bloomington Kennedy was third (206) and Chaska was fourth (212). The Blaze will compete in the Lake Conference Championships on Monday, May 12 at Phalen Golf Course in St. Paul. Baseball: Blaze falls back to .500 in conferenceMay 9, 2008 - 9:05am — Tom SchardinThe Burnsville baseball team fell back to the .500 in the Lake Conference following a 2-1 loss to Rosemount on May 8. The Blaze is 7-7 in the conference (8-7 overall) and will return to action on Monday, May 12 when it plays host to Lakeville North in a conference game at Alimagnet Fields at 4:15 p.m. Jacob Dahl took the loss against Rosemount, despite allowing just two earned runs over five innings. He allowed both runs in the bottom of the first inning.
